Front derailleur - bends and buckles causing bike fail on road

Well, its been a couple of weeks without incident since i no longer use the front derailleur any more, then all of a sudden for no reason other than a bounce down a curb, the whole unit jammed and buckled, i was on the road at the time, what a cheap piece of junk, i had to smash it with my hand to get it straight again, and then get the tools out of my ruck sack and fix the buckling at the side of the road before i could continue, i have bought a "dawes urban express 3 gents 19" hopefully the last bike i will have to buy, this Apollo feud is getting binned, the one other thing i did not mention is that the chain and the read gear cassette are completely rusty, i oiled them this morning again. i bought this bike on July 4th 2014, its six months old, my advice is spend a bit more cash and get descent one.

6 speed it is then

So, after messing around on Saturday with the front gears again, i could not for the life of me get them working sweet again, so i flipped the right hand gears on to the left hand side and vice versa, now the bike is  a six speed, as long as i never try to change gears on the front and mess it up ( as the are now on the right side), i did encounter one small issue, i slammed the back gears too quick and jammed the chain between the gears and wheel bearing, it took some rigorous pulling to unjam it but i got there in the end.

I am thinking of buy a new bike maybe a Dawes Discovery 201, i am concerned about the EZ thumb shifters though.

gone again

Okay it has been 10 days since my last post and the front dérailleur has gone again, i went to shift down from the large chain ring and it snagged, when i tried to shift back up again it would not go, and now i can see a 2mm gap between the front dérailleur and the large chain ring. because there is no contact between two explain why it will not shirt, but does not explain what move to cause the issue.

Back to the drawing board....

running like a dream

After the replacement parts i added to the bike, the plastic gear runner under the pedal crank and the new left twist grip, my ride has been more smooth and the front gears change great...BUT... for how long? do not like the dark ride home and i am very nervous about getting another puncture as it so dark

Who needs gears

So the last couple of days I gave up using the gears and stayed in the highest gear (hardest gear to pedal in) and my journey has been an awful lot smoother, I may consider turning my bike into a 6 speed and drop the front gears all together. lets see what is like when its really windy
